Cholesterol Screening Test


Ages 20 and older: get tested once every five years if you are a healthy adults according to the National Cholesterol Education Program. get a cholesterol test regularly if you are at increased risk for heart disease. (refer to the heart disease health condition segment to know the risk factors)

• Consult your health care provider to discuss how often you need your cholesterol tested.

*Note: The screening guidelines are recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF).The USPSTF is a group composed of primary care providers ( internists, pediatricians, family physicians, gynecologists/obstetricians, nurses, and health behavior specialists) that are experts in prevention and evidence-based medicine.
